Keep your pet free of worms with year-round deworming medication.
Deworming your loyal companion is an important part of caring for them. If left untreated, worms can cause illnesses in your pet and may spread to other pets and humans in the home. Most pets get worms from the places they live and explore and the animals they come in contact with. By protecting your furry friend from worms, you give them a healthier and happier life while saving money on treatments. To schedule an appointment to have your pet dewormed, give us a call at 250-724-4444.
Their stool is usually examined under a microscope. If your furry friend has intestinal worms, the eggs will show in their stool. The process is different to detect heartworms. Our team will perform blood tests to identify heartworms. Remember, heartworms are very dangerous to your pet’s health and they should be tested for them yearly.
Puppies and kittens are especially vulnerable to worms as their immune systems are just developing. Even if their mother is on deworming medication, puppies/kittens can still get worms. We recommend puppies and kittens be dewormed every two weeks from 2 to 12-weeks-old and again when they are 16-weeks-old.
Pets can be given treatment in the form of tablets and liquids. Even though some worm treatments are available over-the-counter, you should have your pet assessed by a veterinarian before you administer treatment.
